Many of these people believe that just because Peter protected Aunt May that he's not a murderer. But murder isn't just when you kill someone simply for pleasure; it's the _desire_ to kill. Despite Peter protecting May, the difference is that he _wanted_ to kill him as opposed to other circumstances. There is indeed zero justification for the desire to kill, despite anyone being safe in the end.
